What to do with those bananas that done turned black? Nobody wants to eat now; though, the more ripe, the better! You can even freeze them and when you're feeling it - make bread!
I’ve never been one for a bread - and especially not a cake - WITH NUTS, no mention, bananas! Wouldn’t touch’m! Just don’t seem right to me, too, what? Healthy?
Until one day, I tried making it my own; so, because I really don’t care for bananas, instead of blending or mashing up the bananas, I cut them up in little chunks. I then add the kind of nuts and dried fruits that I prefer, like toasted walnuts, roasted peanuts, dried cranberries, sun-dried raisins, etc., and man oh man, now, I am some kinda crazy for BANANA NUT BREAD, to almost an obsession, and, and truth, I ain’t too keen on sharing it either.
So, my girlfriend pops over for an unexpected visit, after I’d just finished making my Banana Nut Bread, and she goes, “Oh, wow, what are you cooking; it smells heavenly? I could smell it from outside!”
And, I know what that is - the fresh ginger purée Grannie makes, ground cinnamon, vanilla bean, molasses and OMG, that crispy caramelization on the crust! But, well, now, I only made one loaf!
Grannie and I look at each other with BIG EYES ... and I said, “Uh, Nothing!“ Oh, I know we looked so obvious, for when it was hot out of the oven, we’d been smacking so hard, probably even had crumbs on our faces, and, and just then the door bell rings!
A funny and awkward moment indeed! LOL Call me a nut, but, yup! Tastes too good to share!
