A Special request from Grannie - for good health - to include liver in our diet, to which I initially responded, EWH! NO WAY! NEVER! NOT ME!
So, I was relieved that no one seemed to sell, beef livers; I’d only ever seen chicken livers! Happy to report, “Sorry Grannie!“ Yeah, and I almost got away with it; but then, feeling a little guilty, FOR MY GRANNIE, I reluctantly inquired and found that the Amish sells them, but you have to ask for them, as they are not displayed.
As a kid, I hated liver - tough and tasteless, nasty! Still a NO, NOT NEVER liver fan ... to be, I began scoping out recipes on how best to cook liver. THE IDEA - What’s it gonna take to get this in me - for the health of it - without puking?
BUT, OMG! Who knew Liver could taste so good! Pre-soaked in milk to rid some of the bitterness, dusted with a little seasoned flour, PAN-FRIED Beef Liver, Sautéed Sweet Onions & Garlic, Crispy Stripped Beef Bacon & Herbed Mashed Potatoes sprinkled with Truffle Zest! Do you hear me! GREASE’N as if it were prime rib!
OH, I AM AWARE THAT I AM HAPPILY SMACKING ON LIVER! OMG! Finished the whole plate, “Oom, Oom, Oom,“ Grannie heard me go, bite after bite! DELICIOUS!
